The Business Development and Training organization within Wealth Management focuses on the strategy and day-to-day management of Business Development, Product Distribution, and Field Engagement to assist Financial Advisors in better serving client needs. Business Development and Field Training is comprised of Sales Managers, Product Specialists, Internal Product Sales Desks, and a Home Office team committed to supporting the growth and overall success of Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors. Additionally, Business Development and Training works closely with Senior Management across Firm functions as well as Global Partners to coordinate and drive the Firm’s growth initiatives.

The Alternative Investments Group is responsible for sourcing, manufacturing, developing, managing and marketing alternative investment products/investments, such as:

Hedge Funds

Funds of Hedge Funds

Managed Futures

Private Equity

Real Estate Funds

Exchange Funds

The Alternative Investments Group is responsible for approximately $90 billion of assets. The primary users/investors include wealth management clients and their Advisors.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the coordination of all sales efforts for the MSWM Alternative Investments platform -including hedge funds, private equity, private real estate funds, managed futures, exchange funds and other alternative investment strategies

Act as a contact on the internal sales desk for the respective sales territory with respect to products on the platform and the AI asset class

Responsible proactively making outbound calls to MSWM Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors and for fielding incoming calls on the sales desk

Build new and maintain existing relationships with AI users in the territory

Work closely with the External Sales Director and Specialist as their internal partner covering their territory

Coordinate the efforts of third-party wholesalers/resources within the respective territory

Coordinate regional events and roadshows with fund managers to educate MS advisors and clients on alternative investment strategies and products

Work across the department with the product development, research, investor relations, and operations teams on demand assessments, marketing materials, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Ability to explain complex information clearly and simply

Ability to make presentations effectively

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and organized

Prior experience working in wealth management or financial services

Sales and marketing experience

Knowledge of alternative investments

Must be a team player with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently

Ability to represent the firm professionally with internal and external contacts

Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint programs is a plus

Bachelor’s degree required

Two years+ related financial services sales experience required

Series 7 and 66 licenses required

Salesforce (or alternative CRM) experience preferred

Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
